Blogathon #15 – Betty Bowers Speaks

During my first Blogathon effort in 2003,  which also was for Soulforce, I spent some time talking about the divine Mrs. Betty Bowers. I had just read Paul A. Bradley’s What Would Betty Do? – How to Succeed at the Expense of Others in This World and the Next. The oh-so-funny book featured the, um, teachings and thoughts of Mrs. Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian. You may be familiar with Mrs. B via her “Landover Baptist Church” Web site, which shows — with tongue firmly in cheek — the problems with fundamentalist Christianity as practiced by the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and their followers.

Well, Betty’s found YouTube.

She’s so much better than me. That’s why I am earning my karmic keep blogging until 9am tomorrow to benefit Soulforce’s justice work for LGBT people. Please help – sponsor us. All donations go directly to the nonviolent direct-action group.

  2. Hey, isn’t Blogathon 2003 where we “met”?
