Soulforce Mourns the Passing of Rev. Dr. Rembert Truluck

Dr. Truluck was like the mentor I’d never met. I join with Soulforce in thanking him and feeling sorrow at his loss.

Dr. Truluck speaking at the Soulforce action in New Orleans in 2001Rev. Dr. Rembert Truluck, author of Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse, passed away on November 14 in Greenville, South Carolina of natural causes. He was 74.

Dr. Truluck, a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and writer of Southern Baptist Sunday School Lessons from 1973 to 1979, spoke at Soulforce actions to protest the anti-gay teaching and rhetoric of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Dr. Truluck first joined the Metropolitan Community Church in 1981 and later served as pastor of MCC churches in Nashville, Atlanta, and San Francisco from 1988 to 1996.

A memorial service will take place at Horseshoe Falls, South Carolina on November 22. For additional information on the memorial service or to express your appreciation for Dr. Truluck, contact his son, Russell Truluck, at Russell@Truluckconsulting.com
