McCain Will Debate

Rate the DebatesShould have taken the bet. Just as I expected, Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be at the University of Mississippi tonight to debate his Democratic rival Barack Obama.

In a statement just released, the McCain campaign said that there had been “significant progress” this morning toward a deal on a financial sector bailout, including the return of House Republicans to negotiations. “The McCain campaign is resuming all activities and the Senator will travel to the debate this afternoon. Following the debate, he will return to Washington to ensure that all voices and interests are represented in the final agreement, especially those of taxpayers and homeowners,” the statement said, before dissolving into a pool of anti-Obama political spinning. Also note that there is a lie in the statement: The McCain campaign, supposedly suspended, never stopped. At least 15 McCain satellite offices never got the word to suspend operations when asked. Talk about politricks as usual.

So the debate is on, and both of the permitted candidates will be present at the appointed time, 9pm EDT. Be there, aloha.
