Craig Reconsiders the Reconsideration

Will he or won’t he? Craig says he’s less likely to fight – Idaho Statesman

Sen. Larry Craig now says it’s growing less likely he’ll put up a fight to stay in Congress.
The only circumstances in which the 62-year-old Republican might try to complete his term, said spokesman Dan Whiting, would require the overturning by Sept. 30 of his conviction for disorderly conduct in a men’s room at the Minneapolis airport, as well as Senate GOP leaders’ agreement to restore Craig’s committee leaderships posts taken away this week.

“The most likely scenario, by far, is that by October there will be a new senator from Idaho,” Whiting told The Associated Press.

Can you hear the sighs of relief from the GOP side of the US Senate chamber?
