A number of folks have asked for info regarding the New Year’s Eve passing of my grandmother, Joyce Cook Tillman, at the age of 89. I have no firm details regarding Grandma’s cause of death; the autopsy results take time and are taking longer than expected. We do, however, have farewell event information:

My mom and the rest of the family thank everyone who has sent along blessings, kind words, etc. We so appreciate your thoughtfulness at this awful time. We fully believe Grandma is happy again with Grandpa, which is (we suspect) where she wants to be. We love and miss her, though, and always will…
God bless, Grandma sweetie, and thanks for more than can be recounted. I am imagining you bopping your head to Art Blakey music and flashing your megawatt smile… The big band up there swings, I hope.
On a different subject… Apologies to one and all for my lengthy absence necessitated by illness. I hope to be back at it soon, but cannot give a firm date at this time. Dealing with complicated stuff I am not prepared to discuss yet… Your patience is appreciated, and AF&O is posting away on Twitter, so catch us at @allfactsandopin – 140 characters at a time is all I can handle at the moment. I pray your holidays were wondrous , and may your 2010 rock like a hurricane.

Natalie, I’m so sorry to hear of your grandmother’s passing. I remember oh so well how I felt when my own grandmother died, and I am thinking, thinking, thinking of you … and feeling so much for you. I am comforted to know that she enjoyed Art Blakey. I am also concerned about you .. and I hope we are in face-to-face contact soon. When you’re better and ready. Love you, Susan
