You Know You’re A Right-Wingnut When…

Of course, all conservatives aren’t bigoted, crazy, ignorant, control-freak wingnuts. It just appears that way sometimes.

Found this in my inbox today (it was sent in December; I’m playing catchup) and it simply begged to be shared…

To my Republican and on-the-”right”-side friends, it’s a joke! I kid because I love.

10.) You refused to share your toys in kindergarten, saying it would put you on a dangerous path to socialism.

9.) You get angry when there are choices for languages on an automated call because you still don’t have a good grasp on English.

8.) You hate those “elite Hollywood liberals” but refuse to cancel your Netflix account.

7.) You go to tea bagger rallies because you have no job thanks to the recession that “started under Obama.”<

6.) You watch Fox News, but unlike most people actually take it seriously.

5.) You become absolutely livid about imaginary tax increases.

4.) You are against wasteful programs like Medicare, but also against cutting waste from programs like Medicare.

3.) You criticize Michael Moore for his weight, without being able to refute a single claim that he makes in his documentaries.

2.) You can enter any collective noun into the following sentence “The ______ are screwing everything up” except for the correct ones.

1.) You find yourself saying “no” even to things that you actually want, like ice cream, and health care.[From AF&O: I'm pointing at YOU, Andy Harris (whose proven record includes hatemongering, protecting the interests of the rich, and saying NO to Dems, no matter what, so that the US can revert to past ways [which only worked for people who look and think like Harris, coincidentally]).]

How to Help in Haiti

Forget Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson, who apparently made separate pacts with Satan: Haitians are good people who live in, as CBS describes the island nation, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. They are our brothers and sisters and they are in crisis: The American Red Cross estimates that 50,000 people may be dead as a result of the 7.0 quake that hit Tuesday near Port au Prince. We MUST help them — that is what family does.

How to help (info gathered by WJZ-TV Baltimore):

If you would like to help with the recovery effort in Haiti, there are dozens of organizations accepting donations to help get aid directly to the people. Here is some detail about a handful of such groups, followed by links to other sources.

The Red Cross – To help with relief efforts, text “HAITI” to “90999″ and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.  You can also give online, via phone or even through wire transfer. Donate to the Red Cross

Yéle Haiti - Founded by musician and U.N. Goodwill Ambassador Wyclef Jean, Yéle’s is “a grassroots movement that builds global awareness for Haiti while helping to transform the country through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment.” Donate to Yéle Haiti

Doctors Without Borders - DWB is an international medical humanitarian organization founded by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. The organization currently has staff on the ground in Haiti working to stem possible loss of life. Donate to Doctors Without Borders

Mercy Corps - Mercy Corps is described as hodgepodge of about 3,700 professionals working to help millions in crisis around the world. The group is sending an emergency team to Haiti to help provide food, shelter and other aid. Donate to Mercy Corps

Personal: Grandma’s Funeral Info

A number of folks have asked for info regarding the New Year’s Eve passing of my grandmother, Joyce Cook Tillman, at the age of 89. I have no firm details regarding Grandma’s cause of death; the autopsy results take time and are taking longer than expected. We do, however, have farewell event information:

My mom and the rest of the family thank everyone who has sent along blessings, kind words, etc. We so appreciate your thoughtfulness at this awful time. We fully believe Grandma is happy again with Grandpa, which is (we suspect) where she wants to be. We love and miss her, though, and always will…

God bless, Grandma sweetie, and thanks for more than can be recounted. I am imagining you bopping your head to Art Blakey music and flashing your megawatt smile… The big band up there swings, I hope.

On a different subject… Apologies to one and all for my lengthy absence necessitated by illness. I hope to be back at it soon, but cannot give a firm date at this time. Dealing with complicated stuff I am not prepared to discuss yet… Your patience is appreciated, and AF&O is posting away on Twitter, so catch us at @allfactsandopin  – 140 characters at a time is all I can handle at the moment. I pray your holidays were wondrous , and may your 2010 rock like a hurricane.
